Within the past two years, I have redefined what friendship looks like to me, simply by surrounding myself with a community of people who embody it so well. Best Buddies at Louisiana State University is where it all began. This group of people with Intellectual or Developmental Disabilities see no color when it comes to friendship.
“Do not give up. If it is something that matters to you, fight for it and trust in God's plan. Looking back, I know why I didn't win my first two years competing, and I'm glad I did not win then because I would not deserve or appreciate it as much this year. Trust in yourself and through the good times and bad, don't lose yourself. Stay true to your beliefs and your goals will follow in ways you never imagined.”
“My advice to any out of state or in state, nervous, shy, or indecisive girl who does not know if she should take a leap of faith and rush at Louisiana State University, is to do it. The one thing that sticks with every day of my life is to try for the things that seem unreachable, unapproachable, impossible because what if those things become reachable, approachable, and possible through you?”
